Kasane Teto (重音テト) — my absolute favorite!! she started as a prank UTAU pretending to be a Vocaloid, but she's grown into something so much bigger and more beloved.
she has this super characteristic drills hairstyle, twin-tail red hair, and this absolutely addicting voice that just gets stuck in your head. her voice bank has so much personality — she can go from cute to powerful in seconds.
Teto Territory (テトのテリトリー) is my favorite of her songs — the way it builds and her voice just soars at the chorus?? i also love Meteor, Fake Doll, and ANTI THE∞HOLIC so much.

Kasane Teto was originally created on April 1st, 2008 as an April Fools joke — she was presented as a new Vocaloid but was actually a custom UTAU voicebank made by 飴屋/菖蒲 (Ameyane/Ayame). The prank was so convincing that she gained a massive fanbase before the truth was revealed.
Rather than abandoning her after the joke was revealed, her creator continued developing Teto's UTAU voicebank. She went on to become one of the most loved UTAU characters of all time, and in 2024 she received an official Vocaloid voicebank — making her prank-turned-reality origins even more iconic.
Vocaloid is a singing voice synthesizer software developed by Yamaha. Users can create songs by inputting melody and lyrics, and the software synthesizes a human-like singing voice. The characters given to these voices (like Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto, and others) have become cultural icons in their own right.
